Every year it's the same old routine, Christmas shopping to get new clothes and decorations for the house, putting up the tree again with its colorful lights and Christmas balls as well as baking or buying those delicious holiday treats. But what is Christmas all about? What is the Joy we seek during this routine time of the year?
I believe the true joy and spirit of Christmas comes from our heart. We tend to forget that Christmas is a time of giving and not receiving so we should look to share this joy of Christmas with others. Buying expensive gifts is not necessarily the most ideal way to show it but visiting hospitals, orphanages and retirement homes can be one of the ways to spread the joy of Christmas.
People in these places perhaps will be unable to afford to spend time and money on new clothes, delicious treats and wonderful decorations so they may not be able enjoy Christmas all that much. But by sharing what we have and just spending time with these people, it will make them feel truly happy and we in turn will truly feel the joy of Christmas.
Doing something for others rather than ourselves is something that should come from the kindness of our hearts so during this Christmas season let us all put aside our preparations for once and look towards the needs of others so that we call enjoy this wonderful and festive season.
