FEATURED INTERVIEW: Liza Lim Talks About Her Insurance Career


Insurance agents are more than just a salesperson, and every job deserves to be respected. In today's featured article, we are honored to have Liza Lim, speaking about her insurance career as a social media influencer.


1. Hello, Liza! Thanks for coming and speaking with us today! Let's talk about your current job as an AIA Insurance Agent + Social Media Influencer.


Hi KL Press, I know people will say I'm sort of like a KOL. Meanwhile, I'm doing an influencing job, I do have a full-time job. I've changed a few jobs, previously I was in property, and right now I'm in the insurance industry for almost 2 years since the pandemic lockdown.





2. What makes you choose this industry?


I believe during MCO a lot of people's lives have changed. People get retrenched and cut pay. There are a lot of changes in jobs, so I'm also one of them. When I was in my previous property job, due to the MCO going on, I couldn't bring my clients to see houses, it had to be physical. Insurance is way different. You can do it online. So my salary was affected, and when I saw my friend who is in the insurance industry, their sales and performance were not affected by the MCO at all. Because they can service their clients virtually.


3. People avoid the most sensitive topic called "Insurance".

How do you overcome it?


You just gonna believe it...


When I first joined insurance it was not easy at all. They're friends and relatives who cut me off. However, I still try my best to believe in my initial core.


If you think that today in this industry, you're here for money and sales only, I don't think you can work longer as an insurance agent. You gonna service your client, you plan their finances and go through with them every stage of their life. For example, single people, are engaged, married, and have kids. At every stage of a different life, you will need a different kind of insurance service to plan accordingly.


Agreed! All conversations above are towards an individual's ATTITUDE.


Attitude is Everything!





4. Do you think most of your clients purchase an insurance service plan from you because you're a social media influencer?


99% of my clients are from my friends, relatives, and mutual friends who know me personally. Maybe out of 10% are from social media (Facebook and Instagram). As you know, I already have a profile on Instagram, from seeing my profile, people can predict what type of person I am. I've friends who knows me for more than 10-15 years, and I've been very good to my relatives and we keep good connections until today. Yes, you might need many many many connections, but you might also need a lil support from all of them.


5. Great! Let's wrap it up with a word to your followers or people who want to become insurance agents in the future.


Don't think too much, just do it. Life is short for you to think too long. Stop doubting and change your mindset. You just gotta keep on believing in yourself. One day, you'll be blooming everywhere.
